Telangana officially became the 29th state of India on June 2nd, 2014, with Hyderabad as the capital, situated in the Deccan plateau of south-central India. The Telangana residents of Denmark strongly felt the need for an association that truly represents their culture while integrating with Danish society.

The idea of forming an association was initiated by Raja Reddy Baddam, who brought together members of the Telangana community in August 2014 to discuss the formation of such an organization. Everyone unanimously agreed to build an association with a shared goal.

Vision: “Connect the Telangana Community in order to promote culture and support/serve the Telangana people in Denmark.”

Thus, the Telangana Association of Denmark (TAD) was born.

Established in 2014, TAD was founded by a dedicated team from the Telangana region who had deep-rooted love for their motherland. Their mission was to preserve heritage and promote Telangana culture abroad.

The founding team worked diligently to build the structure and define the objectives of the association. Key contributions include:

The first community celebration — Bathukamma and Dasara Sambaralu 2014 — was hosted in Copenhagen, marking the association‘s official launch.

The creation of the new state of Telangana was a powerful motivator that inspired the formation of this association. Across the world, similar communities formed to unite Telangana people under a shared identity and purpose. This movement was driven by the region’s unique culture and its socio-political journey.
